About Us

Korumba Development Group (K-2006) is a non profit organization based hin Dago Sub location in Kisumu county. It was founded in 2006 as a Welfare association by a group of 36 men. In 2016 it was registered as a community based organization whose objectives are to assist members of the community access affordable, clean and reliable water, support education, collaborate with Ministry of health in promoting hygiene among residents and conserve the environment.In 2008/2009 financial year, KDG- K2006 received funding from Kisumu Municipal Council through LASDAP fund that enabled it to sink a bore hole, install water pump and storage water tanks.KDG 2006 has also received donations in terms of equipment and trainings from Siemens Stiftung of Germany through connection with SOS Kisumu. Some of the equipment received from Siemens are :- 1: Reverse Osmosis water purifier, 2: Smart water meter and Storage Tanks. KDG - 2006 boast of a well trained staff and members in matters equipment maintenance, project management, table banking and financial management courtesy of Siemens Stiftung that has facilitated the trainings. KDG K-2006 has been managing the water project on behalf of it's main sponsor Siemens since 2010 up to 13th October 2022 when the project was handed over to Kisumu County government with Korumba Users Association as the manager of the project. As a community based organization KDG has had the opportunity to participate in several community based activities namely:-1: Working in partnership with Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) a ministry of health initiative to promote hygiene among the community. 2: Promoting education in the area by participating in the motivation of teachers and pupils by donating learning materials to primary schools and rewarding best performing students from the area.3: Partnering with Water Resources Management Authority and Kenya Forest Services in tree planting exercise as a way of conserving the environment and protecting the springs in Dago sub location. Currently, Korumba safe water enterprises that was registered as Korumba Water Users Association (WUA) in 2022 under certificate C/81452 to deal specifically with water issues serves approximately 80 households with clean water. Korumba Water Users Association is a department of Korumba Development Group that's charged with sale of water to the community on behalf of County government of Kisumu.
