IMPROVING LIVES

We see every challenge as an opportunity. Provision of affordable, safe and reliable water does not only solve water shortage challenges to the community but is also an income generating economic activity to members of K D G (K-2006). Korumba water project was started in 2009 with funding from Kisumu municipal council. It provides both unfiltered and filtered water to consumers. FUTURE EXPANSION PLANSKorumba Water Users Association (KWUA) plans to scale up its water supply to more customers.This includes home and office delivery.Connecting homes with piped water to enhance revenue collection and optimize water usage.Towards this, KWUA is looking for donors and collaborators to actualize its plan.

CHANGING MINDSETS

K D G (K-2006) is dedicated to supporting and empowering members of the community. Towards this K D G (K-2006) is actively involved in promoting education in the community by participating in annual prize giving day in schools whereby it donates books and gift students who perform excellently. Besides promoting education in the community K D G (K-2006) in partnership with Ministry of Health, is also involved in promoting hygiene among members of the community by participating in annual hand washing event.

MAKING CHANGE POSSIBLE

The negative effects of climate change is a global problem.Warmer temperatures over time are changing weather patternsand disrupting the usual balance of nature. This poses many risks to humanbeings and all other forms of life on Earth ( UN org).Currently, our spring rivers are on the verge of drying, our land is degrading by the day due to erosion,our forest cover is diminishing thereby interfering with the ecosystem balance.Kenya government under National Climate Change Action plan (NCCAP 2018-2022 is implementing climate change actions invarious areas such as afforestation and reforestation, geothermal and otherclean energy development, energy efficiency, climate smart agriculture, anddrought management.KDG (K-2006) is partnering with Kenya Forest Services, Water Resource Authority ( WRA) in planting of trees in schools and river beds withinthe area of its operation in an effort tointervene the adverse effects of climate change and save our water points.

IN THE NEWS

Handing over Water project to County government of Kisumu 

On 13-10-2022, after successfully managing Korumba water project  for twelve (12) years under the supervision of Siemens Stiftung, It was time to hand over the project to  county government of Kisumu with Korumba Users Association as the manager of the project. Present was County minister for Water Mr Simon Orimba who received the MoU on behalf on the county government. Present to hand over the project was Mr Maina of Siemens Stiftung and Mr Paul Ouma of Korumba Development Group.

Election Of New Officials

KDG-2006 Held its elections of new officials  on 15th September 2024. The newly elected officials were Chairman : Paul Ouma Ogutu Secretary : Lawrence O. Ong'awo Treasurer : Moses Otieno Ojwang' among others.

Capacity Building 

In 2023 Some members of KDG (K-2006) attended management training at SOS Kisumu. Attendees were presented with certificates of participation at the end of a five days training.
